Mark graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1977 earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.F.) degree in Forest Resource Management. He is a Professional Forester (R.P.F.) who has been a registered member of the Association of B.C. Professional Foresters since 1979. Mark has practised government, industrial and commercial forestry since 1977, including 10 years as the Silviculture Forester, Operations Forester, Area Manager and Silviculture Manager with Westar Timber Ltd. in Nakusp, B.C. In Nakusp, Mark was responsible for the logging and forestry activities of a major woodlands operation providing an annual cut of 600,000 cubic metres and has been responsible for the successful reforestation of one of the major Tree Farm Licences in B.C. Mark joined K & C Silviculture in December of 1988 as our Forester. His responsibilities include promoting our products and services, establishing new markets, developing customer relations, communicating client feedback to nursery staff, seedling pricing and sales, administering seedling orders and contracts, managing our shipping and cold storage services and providing silviculture consulting services. A primary responsibility is coordinating and participating in annual field visits to our clients to evaluate the success of our services, ensure our clients needs are being met and to provide advice or assistance when needed. Mark's personal experience includes: Planning and implementing a large Tree Farm Licence Silviculture Program. Establishing and tending a wide variety of tree species including Douglas-Fir, Engelmann Spruce, Lodgepole Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Sitka Spruce, Subalpine Fir, Western Hemlock, Western Larch, Western Red Cedar, Western White Pine and White Spruce. Implementing and supervising operational Silviculture Research Trials. Implementing a White Pine Management Plan including an industrial White Pine Tree Improvement Program. Organizing and hosting an international Western White Pine Management Symposium. Participating in forestry study tours to Western Europe and Sweden. |
